About IPBES in Denmark

About IPBES in Denmark

IPBES in Denmark anchors IPBES’s knowledge and resources in Danish professional environments and politics. IPBES operates in an interdisciplinary context and involves researchers from a wide range of academic fields. At the same time, the Danish office ensures that the knowledge produced by IPBES, based on the requests from member countries, is conveyed to Danish decision makers once the conclusions have been approved. Finally, IPBES in Denmark is responsible for communicating IPBES’s activities and results to both decision makers and the general Danish public.

IPBES in Denmark is funded in a collaboration between departments at six Danish universities: Aalborg University (AAU), Aarhus University (AU), Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Technical University of Denmark (DTU), University of Copenhagen (UCPH) and University of Southern Denmark (SDU). Additionally, The Danish Ministry of Environment serves as the government’s point of contact for IPBES in Denmark’s steering committee.

A new cooperation agreement for 2023-2025 has been signed by the six universities and the Ministry of Environment for the Danish IPBES collaboration, extending the partnership for a new three-year period until 2025. The agreement has been signed at the rector level of the collaborating universities and by the ministry’s head of department, ensuring that the collaboration on IPBES is firmly established within the respective institutions.
