About the videos

The videos (in Danish) have been produced by Naturenidanmark.dk in collaboration with Lars Dinesen and Søren Mark Jensen, funded by a grant from the Aage V. Jensen Nature Foundation.

Video 1: Introduction to the biodiversity crisis

The video introduces the biodiversity crisis, explained by Professor Katherine Richardson from the University of Copenhagen. The video can effectively be used at the beginning of lessons as an introduction to capture the students’ interest.

Video 2: Introduction to the teaching material (for teachers)

The video is directed towards teachers and provides a brief introduction to each booklet with an overview of selected graphic representations and figures from the booklets. It also offers inspiration on how the booklets can be put to use in teaching.

Video 3: Biodiversity monitoring and management in Denmark

The video is aimed at students and provides an introduction and glimpses into the monitoring and management of nature in Denmark, explained directly by experts. Nature and cultural guide Nicolai Lysdal Sejrup takes us on a journey to meet experts on Denmark’s natural environment on land, at sea, and in the air. The goal is both to gain a deeper understanding of the factors contributing to the escalation of the biodiversity crisis and to recognize how knowledge and monitoring play a crucial role in the solution.

Video 4: The Biodiversity Crisis – monitoring and knowledge

The video is aimed at students and provides a brief introduction to biodiversity and monitoring, with a focus on international nature monitoring and new nature surveillance methods. The films involve new technological methods, including satellite monitoring, drones, and environmental DNA, and also inform us about how up to 1 million of the planet’s species are threatened with extinction.
